Last Updated: 5th June 2025
- By entering this free prize draw event (the “Draw”), each entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- The Draw promoter is: the University of Surrey (company no RC000671), whose registered office is Senate House, University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7XH, UK (the “University”).
- The title of the Draw is: ‘Surrey Offer Holders Prize Draw’.
- All prizes are allocated randomly and each entrant will be awarded a randomly allocated prize upon participating, as further described below.
- The Draw is open only to people who are UK domiciled and have firmly accepted their offer to study a Foundation year course at the University of Surrey, for the academic year 2025/6, whose studies will commence in September 2025. One entry per person. If you have any questions about the Draw, please email the marketing department, campaigns@surrey.ac.uk, with ‘Surrey Foundation Year Prize Draw’ in the subject title.
- Participation is open only to such offer holders who are aged 16 or over at the time of the Draw launch. Proof of age may be required by the University in order to collect prizes.
- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this Draw.
- Entry to the Draw is by scanning the QR code in the University of Surrey mailer that University of Surrey offer holders will have received in the post and accessing the prize revealed.
- The Draw will launch on Friday 20 June 2025 and close at 17:00 on Sunday 31 August 2025 (the “Closing Date”). Entries attempted after the Closing Date will not be entered into the Draw.
- The University is not responsible for entries which are lost or not received by the Closing Date for any reason, including, for example, because of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind. The University will not accept proof of posting, transmission or equivalent as proof of receipt of entry to the Draw.
- The University reserves the right to cancel, suspend or amend the Draw and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, industrial action, natural disaster, fire or flood, any applicable law or regulation or failure of any third party supplier reasonably requiring such cancellation or amendment or any other circumstances outside of the University’s reasonable control. Any changes to the Draw will be notified to entrants as soon as reasonably possible by the University.
- The University is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with the Draw.
- The Draw prizes and their numbers will depend on the number of participants and whether the prize is drawn, so it is not possible to determine the exact number of prizes that will be awarded in each category. The prizes range from an Apple iPad Mini (“first prize” - up to 4 prize winners), hydroponic indoor grower (“second prize” - up to 10 prize winners), Quencher-style water bottles (up to 18 prize winners), University of Surrey hoodies (up to 2,220 prize winners), £10 Spotify vouchers (up to 2,219 prize winners) or universal chargers (up to 10,126 prize winners). Prizes are drawn virtually and at random by participants scanning the QR Code to reveal their prize. Any animation indicating the prize drawn is for purely visual purposes and does not determine the outcome. Every eligible person who enters will win one prize. The prizes are as stated, are non-transferrable and no cash alternative is offered.
- Each entrant will be awarded a randomly pre-allocated prize. The interactive feature will serve as a visual representation of the prize reveal and does not determine the prize outcome. Following the Closing Date, prizes will be held at the University of Surrey, ready for collection. Prizes will be available to collect in person, at the start of the 2025 Autumn Semester, during Welcome Week at the University of Surrey’s Guildford campus between 15-19 September 2025 (Deadline: 17:00 on 20 September 2025), after which date and time uncollected prizes will be forfeited, subject to the below. Participants who are unable to collect their prize by the Deadline can make alternative arrangements to collect in person provided they contact Lubi Patterson-Hall before the end of the Deadline, (17:00 20 September 2025) using the email address: campaigns@surrey.ac.uk. They will then have until an extended deadline of 17:00 on 31 October 2025 to collect their prize in person (after which date and time their prize will be forfeited).
- The University does not accept responsibility if a winner does not claim their prize.
- The University’s decision in respect of all matters relating to the Draw will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The University must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award of the first and second prizes took place (whether or not collected per the above terms as to collection). To comply with this obligation the University intends to publish the surname and county of the winners of such prizes on its website after the Draw closes (17:00 31 August 2025). If a winner objects to any or all of their details being published, they should contact the University via: Lubi Hall-Patterson (campaigns@surrey.ac.uk) within 30 days of being notified on their win. In such circumstances, the University may still be required to provide this information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority.
- By entering the Draw, entrants consent to the processing of their personal data by the University for the purpose of administering the Draw and in accordance with current UK data protection legislation, including the Data Protection Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The information provided will be used in conjunction with the Prospective Student Privacy Notice found at https://www.surrey.ac.uk/information-governance/privacy-notices.
- To the extent permitted by law, the University will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate prize winners or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of that person taking up the prize, except where it is caused by the negligence of the University, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. The statutory rights of the winners are not affected.
- The draw is in no way sponsored or endorsed with any other party; however, the Draw is facilitated using virtual draw software provided by an independent third-party agent, Studio Noon Limited, by specifications set by The University. While Studio Noon Limited administers the draw process using its software, all other aspects of the Draw are administered by and determined by the University.
- The University shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions. Such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to the University of Surrey’s website.
